[Eric] eric4 on ubuntu 8.04?

Hi there,
Has anyone been able to install Eric4 on ubuntu hardy heron? (8.04)
I've tried to follow the steps, but it appears that qt 4.4 does not yet play
along well with ubuntu 8.04.
After working on it for a while, but compiling qt from sources, and trying
other things, I've managed to completely mess up my system, and had to
re-install it. I'd surely appreciate a few pointers for setting up eric4 on
ubuntu 8.04.
