Yes, absolutely! This is not a problem at all, and in fact the way I
think you will find that most people do. I do this with Eric, Geany,
Netbeans, Eclipse, and many other applications.

Here's how:

Suppose your desktop PC is box1, and your other machine is box2. Simply
do a:

[joeuser at box1] ~$ ssh -Y box2

Then, now that you have logged in to box2, you simply enter:

[joeuser at box2] ~$ /usr/bin/eric4 &

Now the only thing for you to remember is that when you save, it saves
on box2 (not box1 where your gui is.
