It has been renamed to delChar (at least in version 3.4):

[packer at venus sip]$ grep 'del()' *
qdatabrowser.sip:       virtual void del() /PyName=delOnCursor/;
qlineedit.sip:  void del() /PyName=delChar/;
qlineedit.sip:  void del() /PyName=delChar/;
qlistview.sip:call <Literal>takeItem()</Literal> and then <Literal>del()</Literal>.
qlistview.sip:call <Literal>takeItem()</Literal> and then <Literal>del()</Literal>.
qmultilinedit.sip:      virtual void del() /PyName=delChar/;
qtdocs.sip:<Literal>QTextEdit.del()</Literal> has been renamed to
qtextedit.sip:  virtual void del() /PyName=delChar/;
