[PyKDE] Input in a multiline edit box

I have a simple application (I'll be happy to post the code, but it's
probably not necessary.)  It includes a multiline edit box.  I'm using the
multiline edit box because BlackAdder doesn't directly support TextEdit.

When I execute the code, I cannot type in the multiline edit box.  I can
cut and paste in the box, but not type.

I have a more complete application I'm working on and it includes several
multiline edit boxes.  None of them have this problem.

I have closely examined the properties page (BlackAdder feature) and the
two multiline edit boxes (simple app, more complex app) have identical
features.

Does anyone have any idea what I've done to myself? :)
