I solved the problem I was having.  In case anyone else runs into the same problem... the solution was to add the qvariant.h header to the %TypeHeaderCode.  Despite that it automatically gets imported by the %Import qt/qtmod.sip
statement.  In any case, it works, and everything compiles fine now.
