For those of us who work with people who use indentation modes other 
than those we normally use (i.e. tabs versus spaces), it's quite handy 
to be able to select a section of text and convert-tabs-to-spaces (with 
a dialog asking how many spaces to use for each tab, defaulting to 4, or 
I guess to the user's tab-width setting) or convert-spaces-to-tabs 
(again, with the dialog).
