That is weird... you do have a directory named "win32-g++" under 
C:\Qt\4.2.1\mkspecs, right? The directory should contain qmake.conf and 
qplatformdefs.h.

and (stupid question) you did close and reopen your command prompt after 
changing the environment variables? :)
