Oh, but I am cross-compiling, through scratchbox[1]. It works like a charm (no 
Makefile modifications needed), it's just that the Maemo backend servers used 
for compiling are overloaded, so we 'common developers' have to figure out 
how to accommodate until more/beefier servers are available :)
