[PyQt] QCompleter: Invoke completer on keyboard shortcut

I've posted this same question to qtcenter without any luck. I understand QCompleter's basic behavior and can get it to function as in the basic example found in the official Qt docs. However, I am having trouble getting a completion popup to appear only after a special keyboard shortcut is pressed (as opposed to after every key stroke). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
