[PyQt] Replacement for qtproxies.escape?

Hello,

in the process of fixing a PyKDE4 bug with PyKDE4's UI compiler, I noticed 
that the code calls internally qtproxies.escape, which is no longer in that 
module.

With what should I substitute it with? I notice there's a qtproxies.as_string, 
but I doubt it does the same thing.
