[PyQt] Cannot import Qtcore

Hi

I am having a slight problem with PyQt4 toolkit. Every time i try to import
QtCore or QtGui, i get this error message:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<pyshell#0>", line 1, in <module>
    from PyQt4 import QtCore
SystemError: NULL result without error in PyObject_Call

It used to work fine until last night, when I tried(unsuccessfully) to
install Eric5 IDE.

Please assist
