PyQt 4.6.0 or better is a prerequisite for the Eric IDE, which I want
to install on my PowerMac G5 running OS X 10.5.8 with Xcode 3.1.4 I.
I have encountered a compiler error trying to built PyQt 4.9.5 for
Python 2.7.
Recently (2012/10/5) another individual, one Lionel Arend (whom I do
not know), has apparently encountered the same problem trying to build
PyQt 4.9.4. He was using a similar hardware/software environment. See
his report at http://trac.macports.org/ticket/36479.
I'm hoping someone familiar with PyQt may be able to help us out.
While I'm a career software person I am completely new to PyQt. At
this point my command of Python, though much farther progressed, is
also not extensive.
Having a semi-decent IDE would make learning Python a lot more
enjoyable. Perhaps with the help of the mailing list I'll be able to
get it working and help out Lionel Arend as well.
Thanks!
Galen
