[PyQt] how to implement QApplication.notify()

Anyone else have an idea of how to fix this? This error doesn't happen all
the time, and I can't predict when it will or wil lnot happen. The function
that is causing the error is vtkRenderer.Render(). 
The vtkRenderer object is the renderer of the QVTKRenderWindowInteractor
object. The QVTKRenderWindowInteractor inherits the QWidget class. It
contains a vtkGenericRenderWindowInteractor with a vtkRenderWindow and a
vtkRenderer.
